Thank you Joyce
Tucker for donating this partial cemetery list. If you have additions or corrections, please let
me know. This church has had several "nick" names over the years. like "Pace's Church" but the official name is Pleasant Grove Methodist.

My name is Brian K. Reid. I am writing in regards to
Pleasant Grove UMC cemetery as I recently found a bit of information while on
the Internet.
My grandparents, Truhitt L. Reid and Jessie Lee (Strange) Reid were life long
members of the church. My great grandparents, Susie Emily Strange
and S. A. Strange are currently on this list. They are all buried here in
conjunction with many other relatives. Included is a listing of my
immediate family, although I have many other family members buried here. My
uncle, Vern Reid and his wife Glenda are current members of the
church. I lived in the area for about four or so years as a youth and attended
Pleasant Grove where I preached my first sermon at 12 or 13 years
old.
This would be Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in
Kemper County, MS. The actual address is listed as Bailey, MS but Bailey is in
Lauderdale
County. The physical location is just off Highway 495 on Stephens Road and in
the Prismatic community. It is also states on some sites that it is
in the Center Hill community. The locals of the area call it “Shucktown.” The
cemetery is listed in the Mississippi Genealogy Website
(http://www.kemper.msgen.info/cemeteries/cemeteries.htm) and states “no location
listed.”
This year (2010) we will celebrate the 170th anniversary of the church
(founded in 1840). My plans are to make a listing of all the names of those
buried here, when of course I get the time to spend to go there. Not only do I
have a number of family members buried there but many of my family settled in
this area of Kemper County dating back to the 1840’s.
