Neill and Sandy Nicholsonsubmitted by Sondra Nicholson Neill and Sandy Nicholson were both Privates, in the 35th MS. Inf., Co. A. They both enlisted Feb. 26, 1862. Neill was captured at Vicksburg on 4 July, 1863. On 8 July, 1863, he signed an oath of allegiance to the United States as term for parole. He died 14 April, 1872. Sandy was honorably discharged at or near Macon, MS. in May 1865. This was just after the surrender of Gen. Lee's Army and the 35th was under the command of Col. W. H. Barry at time they disbanded. |
